April 18th is National Transgender HIV Testing Day and Here’s Some Facts to Know-TMPlanet

Trans people are among some of the most at-risk groups for new HIV diagnoses, along with young people, gay, bi and particularly trans men whose partners are male and LGBT people of color. What’s more, trans people often face increased stigma and discrimination when attempting to access HIV testing or other preventative treatment or healthcare — creating situations where our people are less likely to be tested or receive prompt care if they are HIV-positive.

Trans Men Rising to Fight HIV

Like many, Howard is alarmed by the rate HIV transmission in the black community, trans men and seeks to do everything and anything he can to stop it. “It’s getting out of hand.”
As an activist, Howard hears the call to action, “but it’s hard because there’s limited funding and the current administration is not on any of our sides. Look at the proposed bill Trump has put out,” he says.
