Transgender Inmate sues Illinois, asks to be Sent to Women’s Prison

According to research by the Chicago Tribune, transgender inmates are rarely transferred to women’s prisons in Illinois. Federal data shows there were no transgender prisoners in the state’s two female prisons in 2016; however, there were 28 transgender inmates in Illinois’ 24 male prisons.
